Day 1: Marrakech – M’Hamid, Gateway to the Desert

Departure in the morning from Marrakech by 4×4 along the stunning High Atlas road, crossing the Tizi-N-Tichka pass (2,260 m). Lunch on your own en route. The itinerary continues towards Agdz and then the Draa Valley, renowned for its palm groves and traditional ksour (fortified villages). Following a track alongside fortified villages, you reach Zagora before continuing to M’Hamid, the last oasis before the Sahara. Check-in, dinner, and overnight stay in M’Hamid.

Day 2: M’Hamid – Erg Chegaga

After breakfast in M’Hamid, departure for a half-day camel trek (alternating between walking and riding) across the erg (sand dunes) and reg (stony desert), to the Draa hamada (rocky plateau). Lunch in the shade of the tamarisk trees.

In the afternoon, depart by 4×4 for Erg Chegaga, the largest sand sea in Morocco, with a possible stop at the sacred oasis. Settle into the comfortable bivouac at the foot of the great dunes. In the evening, enjoy dinner around the campfire, traditional music, and sand bread making for an authentic Saharan experience.

Day 3: Erg Chegaga – Marrakech

Early morning departure by 4×4 for the return trip to Marrakech. En route, you can visit the nomadic house-museum in Oulad Driss, the pottery workshops, and the Koranic library in Tamegroute.

Lunch en route. Arrival in Marrakech in the late afternoon.
